Why WaterRower?

THE ULTIMATE SIMULATION OF ON THE WATER ROWING
Smooth even resistance places less impact on the back and joints
Virtually silent when in use. Only the relaxing sound of running water
Self-regulating resistance. The harder you pull, the greater the resistance
Unlike the mechanical feeling of fan and magnetic rowing machines, a WaterRower harnesses the power of water to provide a smooth and even resistance. Try a workout that feels and sounds just like rowing in a boat, and one that is unrivaled in replicating not only the physiological dynamics of rowing, but also the aesthetic pleasure.

Instant Resistance

The WaterRower’s unique WaterFlywheel design uses a specially formed paddle to cup the moving water, reduce slippage and produce an unrivalled simulation of the benefits of rowing.

No Jerking or Jarring

There is no jerkiness or jarring which is often associated with conventional mechanical rowing machines making the exercise unpleasant; only smooth even load, kind to the body, and relaxing to the mind.

Smooth Connection

There is no “solid” connection between user and the moving water, simply an immersed paddle which dampens out any detrimental mechanical feel. Providing some “give” is essential for accommodating bad or developing technique, lessening the risk of injury.

Even Stroke

A uniform stroke is essential to spreading the work more evenly over the muscle groups, working the muscle groups in proportion to their strength, optimising exercise benefit while reducing risk of injury.

Iconic Design

A celebrated piece of design. Over the last 30 years, the WaterRower® has become renowned for its fusion of beautiful form with exceptional function. Taking inspiration from the sparse elegance of Shaker furniture design, the WaterRower rowing machine has been displayed in both the Museum of Modern Art in New York and London’s Design Museum.

A piece of functional fitness furniture. The WaterRower is an indoor rower styled designed to complement considered interior design. When not in use the WaterRower rowing machine can be stood away on end in seconds for space-saving storage.

How do I changethe Resistance?

Self-regulated resistance – the harder you pull the greater the resistance.

Just like rowing in a boat.

Official water rowing machine of British Rowing – accept no imitation.

Like rowing, the WaterFlywheel does not apply resistance to you, you apply work to it; you are the engine. By the “rule of cubes”, the amount of work you apply dictates the speed at which you row. From a gentle paddle to a “give it your all” workout, you are in control. When rowing, remember, you are the engine. The amount of work you do is dependent on you, not on the machine.

The more work you do, the more resistance/drag you can overcome, and the faster you move. The speed which you can maintain is dependent on the level of work you can maintain and, again, is limited only by you. Row harder and you go faster, row easier and you go slower. This is the self-paced nature of the WaterRower® and on the water rowing, allowing anyone to enjoy row regardless of age, gender, size or level of fitness.

WaterRower® Benefits

The best workout on dry land

Use 84% of muscle mass with each stroke

Calorie killer - at maximum intesity an indoor rowing workout can burn over 1000 cals/hour

Low impact – minimal strain placed on joints and the lower back

Improves strength and cardiovascular endurance

Suitable for all ages and fitness levels

Indoor rowing is the ideal exercise for anyone looking to improve their overall health and fitness. In contrast to other cardiovascular equipment, rowing is a total body workout. Each stroke on the WaterRower® rowing machine uses every large muscle group in the body (84% of total muscle mass) to both burn calories and build strength-endurance.

Indoor rowing is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The beauty of indoor rowing is that it's a non-impact exercise that can be done at any effort level. Resistance is created by how hard the user rows giving them total control over the intensity of their workout As rowing is not a weight-bearing exercise minimal strain is placed on joints or the lower back.
